FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GLACIER SHARP SHOOTER’S

Jeff Wood – Executive Director

Jeff Wood is currently serving his final year as President of SAHOF, a role he has had for the last four years with USA Hockey.  In that position, he has been responsible for the day to day administration of all ice hockey in the State of Florida.  For those who may not know, Jeff's kids learned to play the game of hockey at Glacier Ice and Snow.  He also was the President of the former travel association at Glacier.  Jeff's desire is to stay involved in the game when his term as Affiliate President ends this June.  The Sharp Shooter Organization is very proud to have Jeff on board and it fills a niche in youth travel hockey that Jeff really has supported and enjoyed watching grow by making it assessable to all players.  Jeff is coming onboard with us to guide the Sharp Shooter's next season as its Executive Director.  We know this is a great opportunity for the Sharp Shooter's, the rink, and as for Jeff...."it's like a homecoming."

We welcome Jeff to the Sharp Shooter’s and back home!

The Bantam team volunteers!!!

On Saturday, October 24th, the bantam team volunteered for the Light the Night Walk.  The boys assisted with the water stations and food service.  If you don't know what this event is all about, please read on.

Each year, in communities all across the United States and Canada, families, friends, neighbors and teams from local businesses and national companies come together for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS's) Light The Night Walk events to bring help and hope to people battling blood cancers.

Funds raised by walkers provide:

  • Lifesaving blood cancer research
  • Financial assistance to cover patient expenses for transportation, medication and testing
  • Free educational materials and events for patients and their families
  • Local programs such as Family Support Groups and First Connection, a peer-to-peer counseling program
  • Comprehensive, personalized assistance

BREAKING NEWS!!!

The Glacier Sharpshooters

announce

John Blum

as

Director of Youth Development

John Blum played 250 games in the NHL with four different teams in the 1980s.

The native of Detroit was a force on the University of Michigan's blueline for four years and was placed on the WCHA second all-star team in 1981. He was signed as a free agent by the Edmonton Oilers but saw action in only a handful of NHL games. A trade to the Boston Bruins in March 1984 gave Blum a chance to play regularly.

He was a regular for two years but was placed on waivers when the club made changes in 1986. He added a physical component to the Washington Capitals' blueline in 1986-87 before he was re-acquired by Boston to provide depth. Blum also played a few games with the Detroit Red Wings in 1988-89 before returning for a third stint in Boston the next season. He then spent five years in the minors before retiring in 1995.

WELCOME ABOARD COACH BLUMMER!!

Sharp Shooters - Announcements Minimize

Sharp Shooters teams kick off the season with a great showing in the Early Bird Tournament at Incredible Ice.
The squirt team took home the big prize this past weekend at Incredible Ice.  They beat the Jr Panthers in a nail biter of a game with a score of 2 - 1.  Congratulations to the boys on an outstanding performance.
The bantam team played hard but lost to the Jr Panthers in the semi final.  Although they sustained a couple of injuries, our boys caught many teams by surprise.  Congratulations to the team on a fine performance.
Wonderful start guys, keep it up.
