A Landmark Agreement - Thursday, May 05, 2011
A Landmark Agreement
Now Includes The Pinnacle Hockey Group & Glacier Sharpshooters

TO: FSHL / FLORIDA JUNIOR PANTHERS TRAVEL HOCKEY CLUB, THE PINNACLE HOCKEY GROUP, & GLACIER SHARP SHOOTERS COACHES, TEAM MANAGERS, PLAYERS, & PARENTS

We would like to reassure all players who play both travel hockey and high school hockey, as well as their parents, coaches, and team managers, that both the travel hockey and the high school hockey programs are in full support of each other, and we all are committed to the success of both high school hockey and travel hockey in South Florida.

Therefore, please know that there is a zero tolerance policy regarding any coach, team manager, or other team official from travel or high school who intimidates or pressures a player or parent to choose one program over the other.

In all instances the following shall be the rule:
1 - A scheduled game form either program takes precedence over a scheduled practice or scrimmage for the other.
2 - A playoff game from either program takes precedence over a regular season game for the other
3 - Missing a practice or scrimmage from one program to play in a league game for the other, or playing in a playoff game for one, as opposed to a regular season game for the other, will never result in any punitive action against that player. This includes, but is not limited to, dismissal from the team, diminished ice time, being berated or subjected to verbal abuse.

Should any player or parent be told, or even perceive that the player has been told, that he/she will suffer any sort of consequences should that player choose to play a game for the other team, we encourage those players or parents to directly contact any of the individuals listed below. Any team official found guilty of such behavior will be subject to discipline by his/her organization.

Thank you.

USA Hockey Coaching Certification Changes for 2011 - Wednesday, February 09, 2011
  • There will be NO 2011 CEP CLINICS scheduled this year until at least SEP-1 and new materials (and manual re-writes) will not be available until early Sep. Coaches should plan to be certified late 2011.
  • The guidelines have changed for how coaches are certified and the process by which certified coaches are moved through the certification process.  You do not need  to be certified at a specific level for a specific age classification - but they do need to move through the program based on these new guidelines.
  • Since the clinic schedule will be packed into the end of the year, during your winter hockey season, coaches must be clear to get to the clinics regardless of any game/practice conflicts. Clinics will likely not be run as a FRI-SAT-SUN series.....but can be run as independent clinics.  The formats of the clinics are yet to be finalized.
  • Coaches can no longer take multiple clinics in a single year.
  • There will also be an online requirement for coaches to take age-specific modules annually.
  • Affiliate and organization MONITORING should still take place and these guidelines clearly state the CONSEQUENCE - that coaches are ineligible to be coaching if they are not moving through the program properly.

Glacier Ice- ADM Program - Thursday, October 28, 2010

Glacier Ice (home of the Sharpshooters) has officially adopted the new USA Hockey ADM Program. This initiative is quickly becoming the standard in many rinks and youth hockey associations around the country as programs are looking for better ways to teach the game to younger players and allow them to have more fun and more active. USA Hockey has truly come through with a program that better suits what younger players need, which is why Glacier Ice is proud to be the first local program to offer the ADM.

For more information on this program, you may visit www.admkids.com or visit the Glacier Ice and Snow youth webpage (link below).
